Education

Education is now seen as not only a basic human right but also an essential means for achieving sustainable development because in various ways it helps people learn about the world and develop those values and lifestyles that reflect their understanding of global realities and their responsibility to prepare for the future. National as well as international initiatives increasingly advocate expanding early childhood education, granting universal access to and completion of "basic" schooling, reducing adult illiteracy, expanding the provisions of basic education and increasing the availability of all educational channels including the mass media and other forms of communication.
