The Frances Humphrey Howard Internship Program

The Internship Program of the Environic Foundation International is named in honor of Frances Humphrey Howard, who was a dedicated friend of the Foundation and its founder Patrick Horsbrugh, served as an Advisor to EFI from its incorporation in 1970, and as a Trustee from 2000 until her death on September 23, 2002. EFI is proud to continue its Internship Program in honor of this woman of boundless interest in and commitment to students.

This program provides an opportunity for college and university students to work with the Foundation and its Trustees and Advisors on a wide range of issues.

Because EFI’s education program is multidisciplinary and focuses on the integration of social, economic and environmental elements in devising sustainable solutions to human and environmental problems, Interns have the opportunity to perform research in an area of particular interest to them, help develop strategies for teaching the environic process of analysis and problem-solving, or work to devise outreach programs for EFI’s target audiences – academic, professional, governmental, and business.

Internships are not only available during summer months, but also part-time during academic semesters. Interns may work at the office or remotely at other facilities under the supervision of an EFI Trustee or Advisor.

Those interested in applying for a Frances Humphrey Howard Internship should send a resume along with a cover letter which includes information on their particular areas of interest to:

In-Kind Supporter

EFI makes every effort to maximize support from its friends and contributors. One way you can help sustain and build on the Foundation’s work is through an In-Kind donation. This can include providing your services to EFI, on a one-time or continuing basis – like bookkeeping assistance, food for a Board meeting, printing our workbook, or by donating materials – like office supplies, postage, and equipment.

If you would like to be an In-Kind Supporter, please contact us at
